October Moodboard & Monthly Goals

Hello All! How are you all doing?

Yes, October is here and Fall has officially settled in Portugal! While the trees aren’t changing yet, the rainy season has definitely cooled the days and especially the evenings out. This change in weather has also caused me to be more homely, start thinking about my annual wardrobe rotation, hot drinks & comfort food, and the coming festive trimester.

This month’s moodboard is a neutral #psl inspired look & feel to get inspired and get those creative juices flowing.

October Goals:

Investing in my business
I’ve taken a 2 month hiatus from the business side of design. As a freelancer working with clients across the globe, you never take time off, and the few bank holidays in Portugal don’t really come into play when your clients are still working on their respective countries. Nonetheless, this much needed break gave me the time to rest, enjoy the long summery days and get inspired again. I’ve had time to think about the direction I’d like to take my business and what I need to be able to accomplish this. With this in mind, I have come up with a plan and cool new projects that I will be sharing in the months to come.

Wardrobe rotation
I’ve tried to maintain ‘my’ version of a capsule wardrobe for the last couple of years. No, I don’t have only 10 pieces of clothing, but I do rotate my wardrobe twice a year, so that I can get excited by it again. We have all suffered from that feeling of looking into our wardrobes and feeling we have nothing to wear. Using this simple rotating technique, I have been able to combat this feeling. Every time I bring out the clothes that I stored away last season, I have the feeling of having bought new pieces and get re-inspired and excited for the season to come. As an added bonus, this also gives me the opportunity to have a look at what I didn’t wear during the last season and either sell it, donate it or throw away - which means more space in the closet (that I’m all for).

Jump-starting routines
With the coming festive trimester looming upon us, I have been thinking of jump-starting some routines to be able to hold myself accountable to a healthy but balanced diet and lifestyle, since we all know that, once Halloween comes around, starting any type of routine will be WAY harder. Taking this into account I have set myself three simple goals:

Stay Hydrated: I’ve noticed that during the summer I’m able to chuck down at least 2L of water a day with no problem but as soon as the weather starts getting colder I stop doing this. I’ve set myself a goal of at least 6-8 cups of non-sugary liquid, whatever that might be.

Sweet Tooth: Cozy weather clothing also brings along my sweet tooth cravings. During the week I will be substituting any sweet cravings with a square or two of dark chocolate and leave the sugar, buttery filled sweets for the weekend as a treat.

Keep Moving: I have also note that my activity levels decrease during this time of year, mainly because the days become shorter and shorter. Consequently, I’ll be setting myself a goal of 30 minutes of movement every day, whatever that might be: gym, walks, callisthenics to get all the benefits of those good endorphins.

How are you welcoming the new season? What are some of your goals? I can’t wait to read all your comments!
