Our list of Impactful moments of the Adobe MAX 2020 conference

Adobe’s annual creative conference - Adobe MAX 2020, is now over, but what a ride it was. This year’s conference was a 56 hours non-stop digital experience of inspiration and learning! There we found a little bit of everything, ranging from adobe’s designers and engineers, graphic designer OGs, entrepreneurs, social media specialists, to celebrity appearances, influencers and musical performances.

The best and brightest did join in on the online fun and they were all determined to provide comedic relief, professional expertise, and creative inspiration during the MAX marathon. As you can imagine, there were many highlights during the 3 day journey, so we have narrowed it down to our absolute most impactful moments.

Stefan Sagmeister
Creative block is something we all struggle with, us included! Don’t get us wrong, we love what we do, but at times it is painful to produce anything worthwhile in this field. That was exactly what Stefan said during his creative talk. We’ve always found that Sagmeister is incredibly practical, even when he speaks about the design process. He always gives you practical advice on how to deal with a certain aspect of design, alongside examples within his work where he has applied said advice. His talk is no longer available on the MAX website, but if you want further insight from him, we highly recommend his book: Things I have learned in my life so far.

Paula Scher
We have a confession to make: Paula Scher has, for years, been one of our absolute favourite graphic designers. She has led the way for women and typography design, since her early days as a record cover designer in the 60’s. Her way of speaking about design and the relationship between design and audience is something that deeply resonates with us. So it came as no surprise when we found her name on the schedule to speak at the MAX conference. Her 20 minute talk about Unexpected Results concerning a project that has been 27 years in the making is an absolute gem.

Tim Allen
This creative genius is the puppet-master behind the creative team at Airbnb. His leading approach on building a brand and product that is human-centred, while inspiring people to do their best work, has taken the market by storm. In his talk Designing for Belonging , Allen speaks about how products and services need not only to be useful, or purpose-focused, but also culturally relevant and inclusive. He gives the example of how. in the pandemic era, they have been able to narrow the needs of the consumers within Airbnb and provide a meaningful helpful hand to their costumers.

Chris Do

When we first started on our entrepreneur journey and were gathering the courage to move forwards with this project, while madly doing research about the area, we stumbled across Chris Do. He was a true compass for us during those first few months. This graphic designer is a well of knowledge, both regarding entrepreneurship as well as design. During his talk he sheds a light on his personal journey as an entrepreneur, social media content creator, and educator.
